Project Description

Our project examines the average SOL test scores for students with disabilities in relation to the percentage of students with a specific disability out of all students with disabilities in a school or in a division. Essentially, the user is able to choose the year, disability, and subject that they would like to examine and our application displays a scatter plot of all high schools or all divisions in Virginia with their average score in the specified subject in this specific year and the percentage of students with disabilities that have the specified disability.

Data Explanation

The average scores displayed on the graph are an average for all students with a disability in a particular school/division. This is not an average of the students with the chosen disability; this would violate privacy and anonymity of the students. The percentage displayed represents the percentage of students with the chosen disability out of all students with a disability in this school/division. The line on the graphs shows the correlation between the average score and the percentage explained above. The passing rate for all SOL tests is 400.

Andrew VanDyke

A​ndrew is a junior Computer Science major with an Asian Studies Minor. He has worked in the past with databases using MySQL. He plans to work in Software or IT.

Peter Weeks

P​eter is a junior Computer Science major with a minor in Mathematics. He is pursuing the Cyber Security certificate and is on a trajectory to be a penetration tester.
